Immerse Education launch academic summer school at University of Sydney

For their first international summer school, Immerse have partnered with St. Paul’s College to deliver academic subject teaching to students during the Australian summer months

This new summer school combines exceptional academic teaching from University of Oxford and Cambridge tutors with the prestige of University of Sydney. Based on the flagship Academic Insights programme, the programme in Sydney includes small-class seminars and 1:1 tutorials for British and international students.

The course will take place in January 2023, and is open to domestic and international students aged 13-18 looking to gain an insight into subjects including Business, Creative Writing and Medicine. With Oxbridge tutorial-style teaching led by expert tutors, participants engage in subject discussion and receive personalised feedback throughout the course.

The University of Sydney, the oldest in Australia, was founded in 1850 as a modern and progressive institution, supporting students of all backgrounds to further their education. For almost 170 years, the university has produced leaders of society, challenging traditions and creating opportunities. In the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2021, the university ranked 1st in Australia and 2nd in the world. This new programme offers a unique blend of iconic institutions.

Managing Director, Peter Grieve, explained

Since Immerse was established, the aim has been to share unique educational experiences that blend innovative teaching and world-renowned institutions. With it’s incredible prestige, St. Paul’s College is the perfect place to launch the first international Academic Insights programme, sharing opportunities with students from around the world as well as giving our students a chance to visit this incredible city,

With support from the Department of International Trade in Sydney, the programme will offer new opportunities for young academically talented students. Australia is the 14th largest economy in the world (IMF, 2020), and with the recent Australia-UK free trade deal allowing young people to work and travel in Australia for up to three years at a time, this course is the first step in a bright future for student cohorts. Future professionals, including architects, scientists, researchers, lawyers and accountants, can also now access Australian work visas without being subject to a skilled occupation list.

This summer school in Sydney is a unique opportunity for students to live and study in one of the best universities in Australia. For Immerse, it also expands delivery throughout the winter months, building on existing international partnerships with a programme for individuals.
