Kingswood £1m investment in Grosvenor Hall

Kingswood showcases their £1m investment in Grosvenor Hall adventure centre in Ashford, Kent

It’s taken a year to get there, but on 12th April 2018 Kingswood were able to reveal the results of their hard work at an open day and ribbon cutting ceremony with the Mayor of Ashford Borough, Councillor Winston Michael.

Guests from local schools, groups and neighbours were invited to discover highlights from their £1m investment, which include: a new lake measuring 100m by 50m; a new accommodation complex with 88 bedrooms and newly refurbished accommodation blocks; an improved menu with a more nutritious offer, and a brand new flood-lit Sports Court – which was the location of their ribbon cutting ceremony.

Their Sports Court will shortly be home to netball and basketball tournaments, with the opportunity for up to four games to take place simultaneously. Along with their new lake, Kingswood’s adventure programme can now include both canoeing and raft building with brand new watersports equipment included. Their offer is ideal for schools and groups wanting to inspire young people and host exciting residential trips, tournaments with a choice of pure adventure programmes and specialist development programmes available.

Councillor Winston Michael said “Grosvenor Hall is one of the best kept secrets in Ashford. It needs to be given the recognition it truly deserves. I am thrilled to attend this open day and unveil the vastly improved facilities following a £1m investment. My passion is driven by the desire for all young people to have the opportunity to enjoy their lives, reach their full potential, and make a good transition into adult-hood. What I see here does all of these things and provides an amazing adventure to challenge and give a sense of achievement to all young people. Through this investment, Kingswood is really investing in our incredible young people.

Over 135 guests attended and were able to enjoy a fun-packed afternoon of activities including zip wires, abseiling, canoeing and climbing. The Mayor even took part in a zip wire race with Kingswood’s CEO, Tim Gibson.

Grosvenor Hall’s new Centre Manager, Paul Carter, said “I am delighted to unveil our improved Grosvenor Hall centre and showcase the best parts of our investment. A lot of hard work has gone into getting to where we are and we are so pleased that so many people were able to come to see the investment highlights. The Grosvenor Hall team can’t wait to welcome lots of young people and give them the best possible experience in 2018.
