Post-Covid there has been a real importance on providing flexibility and confidence to group bookers and schools. We have designed a range of options such as Flexi-Tickets and Guest Credit, in order to provide that reassurance and encourage a return to the theatre
Tell us a bit about your role and how it supports the business?
Disney Tickets is Disney Theatrical Group’s direct-to-consumer ticketing service and I manage our Group Sales and Tourism operation. Working with group booking partners and managing the sales team, my role drives sales for the business, but also builds client partnerships and develops our product offerings, always striving to diversify our portfolio of Disney productions and events we can offer. In this space I also collaborate with our education and outreach team, working very closely with organisations who bring their groups to the theatre and offering special add-ons such as our Education Workshops.
What has been your career highlight to date?
Having the opportunity to move from the Studios team in the Disney office in Melbourne, Australia to the Disney Theatrical Group office in London, was such a highlight to be able to join a new team, in a new country, in a new industry.
What are the emerging trends within your sector and have these changed since Covid-19?
Post-Covid there has been a real importance on providing flexibility and confidence to group bookers and schools who are sometimes booking theatre tickets 12+ months in advance. We have designed a range of options such as Flexi-Tickets and Guest Credit, in order to provide that reassurance and encourage a return to the theatre. There are real benefits for clients to book tickets direct with us at Disney, and providing that brand confidence is going to continue to be important as travel confidence continues to increase.
What is coming up for your company in the next 12/18 months?
There are some exciting new productions announced and due to open in the next 12 months such as Newsies (opening end of November at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre) and a new musical stage adaption of Winnie The Pooh (coming 2023), with more news to come as well!
As an association what one thing do you think we have done that has made a real difference to our members during the crisis?
Simply providing a space through BETA events to connect with clients, old and new to discuss the market, develop strategies and look for opportunities for business during Covid was hugely beneficial and encouraging during what was a very tough time.
Covid-19 has had a huge impact on our industry, what is the one thing that you have learnt personally or professionally during this time?
Relationships are so important, whether that be professionally, with colleagues and clients, or personally with family and friends, having that community to be able to support each other is vital, and hopefully that continues long after Covid too.
