Youth, Student & Educational Travel Statistics Report 2018 

Published in September 2018. BETA is dedicated to benchmarking the industry and delivering relevant and updated statistics to enable stakeholders and influencers alike to benefit from a deeper understanding of the volume and value of the youth, student and educational travel sector to the UK.

This report follows on from our comprehensive study entitled Unlocking the Value of Youth Travel which was published in 2017.

For the first time we are able to look at the results y-o-y and compare growth within the sector. Whilst the report shows increase in the spend and number of arrivals, we are aware that its pace remains slower than that of our competitors.

• 15.2 million youth and student travellers visited or studied in the UK in 2017 – a 3% increase on 2016
• £27 billion contribution generated by youth & student travellers in 2017 – a 5% growth on 2016
• 265,000+ UK Jobs are supported by the international education sector in 2017
